I asked my heart/higher power during this morning’s brief mediation what to focus on during our radio spot with Doug Jayne’s Midday Music/Sonoma County Music Hour show on KRCB. It’s fundraising season, so that’ll be a topic, but three ideas bubbled up:

1. Love.

2. Fun

3. Expand the community

Another unexpected, but welcome call to keep it simple in the face of the fear and panic that so often drives us while promoting ourselves as singer-songwriters. Which is exactly why Katie and I created Supernova Support in the aftermath of a music career swallowed by Covid, motherhood, and co-dependence with a chaser of cultural patriarchy bullshit.

We wanted to find a different way to approach songwriting that centered on recognizing and developing our unique gifts, our singular voices and perspectives instead of constantly shaming ourselves for not being more ______ fill in the blank.
