Song Salons Have Arrived!

Like a cut and color for your works in progress...

Have you ever walked out of the salon sauntering down the street to your car, feeling like the star of a shampoo commercial? You know it’s just you and your fresh cut, but you can’t shake the feeling of being the you’ve got the look Vidal Sassoon gal.

Song salons don’t offer a blowout or anything, but they do leave you with a similar feeling about the song that you share. All of the sudden, the same old lyrics and melody you walked in with take on a new bounce and sheen with just a few snips or highlights. How does that happen?

The magic works when a small group of songwriters (veterans and newbies) meet together virtually or in person to play a work in progress, or a song that seems done for mutually encouraging ears. Before the music starts, a brief guided meditation calms and grounds everyone to open hearts and minds, and hopefully soothe any nerves! Then it’s song sharing time.

Each person uses their unique musical experience, background, and taste to identify what about the song and vocals lights them up. When it’s virtual, they share in the chat and out loud, getting to the heart of the craft points and emotional resonance that drew them in.

Hit repeat until everyone’s performed, and what’s left is a group of songwriters who know exactly what connected people to their music which develops a sense of the unique gift they have to offer. That knowledge translates into confidence and a concrete ability to verbalize what’s great about their music, as well a fresh neural pathway that leads to more of those strong qualities coming out in new songs yet to be written.

Not to mention the inspiration from and integration of the amazing techniques, craft, and style gleaned from each song from the group!
